Here Is What WE Say About It

STRATTEC Security Corp. BOLT Series Locks

My dad used to say “this is the best thing since sliced bread” when he saw area really great new product.   If I were to put one of these locks in his hand today,  I can guarantee you that those would be the exact words he would say today.

In my case,  with my custom off-road trailer in-tow,  I use about 10 padlocks to secure gas, water and propane tanks,  spare tires, my lift jack, the trailer lid and of course the trailer hitch and coupling.   Go to your local hardware store and you might find a pack of 4 keyed alike locks,  which in my case requires I carry 3 different keys.   This is the perfect solution in my situation.

The new BOLT (Breakthrough One-key Lock Technology) Series of locks incorporates a unique automotive-style cylinder that enables users to insert their vehicle key and  “program” the lock to that key.  What is really exciting is that you can take any BOLT lock and program as many as you need to that same vehicle key.  Because of the locks automotive-grade cylinder with a shutter and six-plate tumbler, they are nearly impossible to pick or bump and have the highest corrosion resistance rating.

The only disadvantage I can see is that they can only be programmed one time.   If you keep your vehicle for a long time,  no problem.   If not,  don’t give all your keys away when you sell or trade it.  In any case,  all of your locks will still open with just one key and that is a good thing.

In any case my Expedition Rig will be protected by BOLT series locks from now on!
