Here Is What WE Say About It

Every now and then you run across a piece of equipment that can function like several. The Volcano II Collapsible Propane Stove is one of those items. I found this item at my favorite outfitter, Sportsman’s Warehouse as a featured sale item for $99. They had two models of the Volcano II at the store, the one model, which I got was advertised for propane, wood and charcoal. I am guessing this model became the Volcano 3 sometime later.

First of all, don’t let the word “propane” fool you. This stove will work with propane, wood and charcoal. Think of it as a stove, oven, grill and campfire in a bag. Not only does if function as a stove and a grill but it can be a campfire when wood fires are banned by using it in propane mode. It also can be used for Dutch Oven cooking! And the best thing of all, give that wood fire tasted to your burgers and steaks by using wood or charcoal in your Volcano 2 stove. Ooops, you've run out of or forgot the propane? Not to worry you can gather wood and cook with it instead! The Volcano II Stove comes with everything you see in the picture from grates to grills to propane burner and hose. Everything stores inside the Volcano II which collapses down to half its height and stores in its own carry bag.

So how does it perform? Great! You can use the Volcano II with a Dutch Oven and make great dinners, deserts and biscuits. In stove “mode” you can heat up a huge pot of water, cook eggs and bacon in a frying pan or use several sauce pans at a time. As a grill you can cook up five 1/3 lb burgers at a time or a couple of steaks and ears of corn. You can set this on your fold up table and grill without fear of damaging the surface from heat as I did with my first batch of burgers. Its great for tailgating too.

Ever been on public lands where there are fire restrictions? You can use the Volcano II as a campfire and have those toasty Smores or marshmallows at night using its large volume propane burner. Comes in handy when wood campfires are prohibited.

The quality of this unit is apparent as soon as you lift the box. It is not a lightweight but it is small enough to carry in your Jeep. It’s built to give you years of service.
