THE STRAP LOCK

Review by: Mike Fissel - As seen in JPFreek Adventure Magazine

Here Is What THEY Say About It: Equipment Image

The Strap Lock

The Strap Lock is made out of Code 100, 5000 series polished aluminum Tread Bright. Along with the good looks, it is lightweight, strong, and will not rust.

Included with the Strap Lock is a full assortment of hardware to allow you to pick what you need for your custom installation. All hardware has a durable zinc finish in case you choose to mount it outside your vehicle.

NEVER misplace your recovery strap again!

Here Is What WE Say About It:

We have been approached to to reviews on a number of items and some never make it to these pages......and some do, like The Strap Lock.

John "Hunter" is the owner of Hunters Off-Road in Tempe, AZ and to many is considered one of the best if not the best custom fabricators around. John makes custom tube buggies, frames, roll cages, roof racks, bumpers....well you get it, just about anything with steel.

As things would have it, I stopped by Hunter Off Road to talk about a couple of projects I was thinking about. Sometime during the conversation, John showed me a bag with a piece of diamond plate in it with some. some hardware. It looked like something you might find in most 4x4 stores but I had never seen one. It was The Strap Lock. A simple device that you misplaced in your rig. I thought what a great idea !

I asked John where he got it and he smiled and said "I make them". I told him he needs to have one of those late night informertials with that guy that yells and do a U-Tube video as a start.

So you can remember the time when someone got stuck, perhaps you. Where did that recovery strap get to, where did I put it and where is buried. With The Strap Lock you alwasys know where your strap is and can easily get to it when the need arises.

There are a number of ideas on where and how to mount it on The Strap Lock web site or whatever your imagination comes up with. I have seen them mounted on top of one of those Rubbermaid plastic gear boxes, the tailgate, liftgate, the bumper, on a roof rack, on the top of side of the rear wheel well of your Jeep, the roll bar.......well you get the point, you can mount it anywhere. Me I am going to mount it to my roll bar, up high so it's easy to get to.

Being a person who always puts something where he can find it and then when he needs it can't, The Strap Lock is the perfect accessory for me. For the price of just a family visit to McDonalds you too can own one of these unique and necessary items for your Jeep! Its quality made and priced right. Where is your strap?

Just so you know, John was the first one to make and sell these and like most new products that aren't patented (you would have to sell a lot of Strap Locks to make up for the $50,000 or so it would cost to get patents and trademarks). In the few years since this was written, other people have ripped off the design and are now selling a similar or exact copy of John's original idea. So support the guy that made it happen by buying from John.
