Equipment Image There isn't a single one of us who is against the Tread Lightly philosophy, and many of us pack out our own trash, but how many of us pick up trash when we see it? Or, how often do we end up with some nasty burrito or sandwich wrapper in the vehicle and end up smelling it for the rest of the trip? Trash should be kept outside where we can't smell it, it can't drip on interior parts, and there should be more than enough room in a trash bag for what you bring and what ever you might find and want to pick up. The problem is, hanging a X-gallon Hefty bag off the back of your vehicle doesn't work too well, one bump and its gone; and the old-style canvas bags that many of us are fond of flop around back there- damaging paint, and sometimes dropping more trash than they hold.   Enter the Trasharoo

With high-quality wide buckles, denier nylon, a heavy-duty attachment to your existing external spare tire, and positive-closing cover, you can haul away all the trash you accumulate in a weekend and maybe even make the trails a little cleaner as you go, without having to turn the inside of your rig into a disposal site. TheTrasharoo, made by CTP Inc, has been in testing for the last year, and with over 20 years of off-roading and overlanding experience to the owners name, CTP knows what it takes to survive the rigors of off-road travel and what the off-roader needs. The owner was sick and tired of having his trash floating around in his rigs, and hated that the trash he picked up- which had been who knows where- would also occasionally be messing up his rig. So CTP decided to fill that void.

Here Is What WE Say About It

What kind of items make it to the Equipment Review Seciton of Jeep Expeditions website? Obviously items that we find necessary for our trips, items that make life in the boondocks a little more comfortable and upgrades for our Jeeps to make them better and to give them more utility.

They also have to be a quality product from a manufacturer, distributor or dealer that has a good reputation and good customer service. Reputations are made good and bad over time and newer products from little known companies deserve a chance. Customer service is obvious from your 1st encounter with the person at the other end of the phone or email you are talking with.

We have been approached to to reviews on a number of items and some never make it to these pages......and some do.

California Tape Products might be from a little known company but they have a great made of quality materials by a fellow Jeep enthusiast. Sometimes the best ideas come from one of our own and this product is one that every off-roader should consider having.

So where do you store your trash on an off-road trip?   Perhaps the question is how and where do you transport it.

It is nearly time for JeepExpeditions.orgs 4th anniversary trip and in the dozens of overland trips I have been on with the group, I have seen it all. Bungeed to the roof, to the spare tire, behind the spare tire, tied to the antenna mount, strapped to the top of the trailer mounted  roof top tent,  stored inside an off-road trailer and my favorite……in the back seat of your Jeep!

All good places, or NOT! How many times have you seen a bag break, tear, leak and deposit all kinds of nasties on or in your rig?  YUCK!   Perhaps the bag broke and left a trail of garbage that everyone had to stop to help pick up?

Friends, meet off-road sanitation salvation, The Trasharoo! This ingenious product is made of a heavy duty denier vinyl canvas and can hold up to 50 lbs. A 10” zipper pouch holds your supply of trash bags to use as liners.  With double stitching, a water resistant inner coating, drain holes in the bottom just in case and an “X” strap design that fits over your 30”-35” spare tire this new product screams quality and utility.   Not only can you use it for trash but it can double as storage for dirty clothing, your recovery gear, a pack of firewood and many others.

The Trasharoo is one of my top SEMA picks for JPFreek Adventure Magazine and a perfect partner for one of my others, the Econogreen Trash bags. Together they make a great team and every overland vehicle should be wearing one of these.
